Sklar took home “Best of Show” Sept. 20 at Edgewater’s 24th Annual Art and Music Festival at Old River Road and Thompson Lane. Her mixed-media work netted the artist a $1,000 cash prize for combining media in an innovative manner. All told, the Borough of Edgewater donated $5,125 to 13 winners in seven categories judged by a jury sponsored and presented by the Edgewater Arts Council and President Lynne Grasz Hall.

“This festival has become Edgewater’s largest cultural event, and this year we increased our cash awards to a total of $5,125, our largest ever,” Grasz Hall said in a statement. “We are Bergen County’s largest, and we think, most prestigious juried art competition, honoring work by very creative artists.”
